With over 40 plus years’ experience in the auto industry, 7CARS is a company built on traditional family values, overlaid with sound business skills, offering customers a professional service unrivalled at any price - a precious commodity in a world where quantity is often prized at the expense of quality.
Our time line and services
7CARS CEO Terry Johns first became involved with the 7 in 1975 when he purchased his first Lotus 7 S2 Cosworth. Since then, the Lotus 7/Caterham has been at the sharp end of the business. “Over the past 40 plus years, we have accumulated an unparalleled knowledge of the 7 and its workings”. From complete restorations including frame repairs, re-paneling, suspension and brake upgrades to Cosworth engine rebuilds and the simple oil change, there’s not much we haven’t tackled.
Gone Racing
Raised in a successful racing family, Terry began racing karts in junior school, before moving to single seaters in his late teens and rallying after that. In 1981, and racing against stiff completion, Terry won the ASWMC Road Rally Championship in his Talbot Sunbeam Lotus. Over the next few years, Terry grew into a successful and regular competitor in the British Rally Championship. Today, with his Mazda Miata, Terry is a regular competitor and class winner in the WCMA Autocross Championship.
Terry holds a coveted ARDS instructor’s license. He has worked as a senior high-performance driving instructor at some of the UK’s most prestigious tracks, including, Goodwood, Castle Combe, Thruxton, and Brands Hatch. Today, Terry’s time is divided between running 7CARS and working as a test and development driver for Jaguar Land Rover.
